Event Information
History of the Race
The race and walk are held in honor of the memory of Jennifer D'Amour, a member of the UMass Lowell cross country and track and field teams from 1994-98, who tragically lost her life in a car accident in May of 1999. The event, which is part of the River Hawk Homecoming Weekend, funds two cross country and track and field scholarship at UMass Lowell. It is the kickoff event on the last day of the Homecoming weekend. The event draws more than a hundred participants and equal number come to watch the race. This flat course runs along both sides of the Merrimack River. It is USATF certified and a commonly utilized course.

Registration
The easiest and most convenient way to register is through online registration. However, if you're not able to register online, race day registration will also be available from 8:30am to 9:30am.

T-Shirts
Moisture wicking short sleeve t-shirts are guaranteed to the first 50 registrants. We will also have t-shirts for the kids dash.
Awards
Decorative medals to first 100 finishers. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers in the following divisions: Open (top 3), under 19, 20-39, 40-49, 50-70 and 70+ categories. There will also be awards for the top UMass Lowell student runners (non-varsity runners) and top Alumni. In addition, there will be a number of raffle prizes. Award ceremony begins at 12pm.
*New* Team Competition
Team scoring will be based on average time of the 3 fastest runners each team. You need 3 runners in order to participate in team scoring.
Race Amenities
LOCKER ROOMS/SHOWERS are available at the UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center, located at 100 Pawtucket St, Lowell, MA. Please present your bib number at the front desk.
Parking & Shuttle
There is free parking available at the UMass Lowell Tsongas Center Lot B and paid parking at the City of Lowell's George Ayotte Parking Facility. A shuttle bus will be available to bring participants back from the Campus Recreation Complex (Finish Line) back to the Tsongas, following the awards ceremony.

START: Race will begin at the same location (Intersection of River Place & Post Office Square in Lowell) near the Tsongas Center.
FINISH (New): Race will finish at the newly built UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Sports Complex located at 100 Pawtucket Street.

*NEW* USATF-NE Event Sanction
This is a USATF-NE Sanctioned Event. Jennifer's Run & Walk 5k is being run according to applicable competition rules set by USA Track & Field and is eligible for any record setting. The race provides Liability Insurance and Sport Accident Insurance for Athletes (Certificate # 20180912651843). A complete Safety Plan has been submitted and approved by the USA Track and Field office.
